HACK@EO L’Aquila2021 - City Sustainability Indices for Citizens

With the anniversary of the 6th of April, the 12th year after the 2009 earthquake, the Project Territori Aperti and Open Search Tech, in collaboration with ESA (European Space Agency), AIxIA and GMatics, launches a national challenge (HACK@EO L'Aquila 2021) to citizens, technicians and young people to outline the future of a sustainable reconstruction able to promote social welfare. HACK@EO L'Aquila 2021 is made by three challenges that aim to assess air quality, roads' walkability, and accessibility to services. The results of the three challenges will be the basis of a final challenge. After defining a final indicator of social well-being, participants will compete for the prize by creating a communicative and useful interface for institutions and citizens. To compete, participants will have to form a team capable of ensuring gender parity and balancing technical and communication skills. Each team must be composed of a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 6 experts, graduates or undergraduates in STEM subjects and human science (A) (for human science we mean any non-STEM subject, for example: economics, literature, architecture, urban planning, etc...), with at least two women and two experts in human science. The hackathon is open to everyone, university students or not, and it is international with the only constraint that the communication of results must be made in Italian. HACK@EO will follow the following schedule: registration is open from April 6 to April 30. The event will take place between May 1 and July 1. The awards ceremony will take place (health situation permitting) in L’Aquila on July 9. For students of the Computer Science and Applied Data Science courses of the University of L'Aquila to gain up to 4 CFU of type F. The hackathon is organized with the participation of the City of L'Aquila, CETEMPS, D4Science, SoBigData++. Territori Aperti is funded by the Fondo Territori Lavoro e Conoscenza CGIL CISL UIL.
