With international partners, including the Government of Canada, the RSC prepared a series of G7 Research Summits throughout 2018 that will culminate in Halifax in November 2018 during the annual gathering.
The first event in the series was held in Ottawa from March 18-20, 2018. The morning of Monday, March 19 has been devoted to a series of roundtables where delegates shared insights and experiences common to the internal operations of their Academies. In the afternoon, discussions continued at the beautiful Canadian Museum of Nature. The first session of the afternoon programme was devoted to exchanging insights, evidence and opportunities in advancing gender equity in research. Following the discussion on gender equity in research, delegates toured the Museum to visit its outstanding new exhibit focused on the Arctic. Following the tour, the RSC hosted a reception in which delegates connected with policymakers and the diplomatic corps from their countries as well as other domestic partners.
Then, on March 20, the group finalized their two statements before heading on a guided tour of the Canadian Museum of History during the afternoon.
