Massimiliano is Senior Technology Researcher (Primo Tecnologo) at the "Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione A. Faedo" (ISTI), an institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He has strong theoretical foundation in Computer Science and Technology, encompassing mathematics, logic, and cross-platform coding, and over 17 years of experience working on distributed systems, e-infrastructures and Virtual Research Environments.
Massimiliano's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Information Engineering, a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Information Technologies, and a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Computer Science, all earned from the University of Pisa.
Throughout his career, Massimiliano has been actively involved in several European Union (EU) projects, including ARIADNEPlus, Blue-Cloud, RISIS2, AGINFRAPlus, BlueBRIDGE, DESIRA, PARTHENOS, SoBigData, EOSCPilot, PerformFISH, iMarine, EU-BrazilOpenBio, D4Science II, D4Science, and DILIGENT. He has held various roles in these projects.
Currently, Massimiliano is engaged in EU projects and Research Infrastructures with responsibility roles, including Blue-Cloud 2026 and the SoBigData RI projects. He is the scientific manager for ISTI of the Italian PNRR IR project FOSSR.
