Welcome to the 12th issue of the SoBigData Magazine! In this new issue, we focus on another pillar of our research infrastructure and a critical topic for today's world: Digital Ethics and Responsible Innovation in the Age of AI and Big Data.
As AI and data-driven technologies increasingly shape our world, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in their development and deployment is essential. This issue explores these pressing concerns and highlights the role of responsible innovation in ensuring AI benefits everyone, especially as Europe is developing a formal framework for data sharing.
Featured: The Dutch Node of SoBigData
In this issue we focus on the SoBigData's Dutch node, with leading institutions such as the University of Amsterdam, Delft University of Technology, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and EGI Foundation. These organizations drive cutting-edge research in digital methods, responsible AI, computational social science, and open science infrastructure, ensuring that ethical considerations remain at the heart of technological advancements.
In particular, we will present ODISSEI, the national research infrastructure for the Dutch social sciences which is becoming part of the SoBigData network.
SoBigData Summer School
We are also excited to introduce the new edition of the SoBigData Summer School "From Data Science to Social Innovation", offering participants hands-on training in Data Science, AI ethics, fairness, and privacy.
Digital Infrastructure
In addition, we take a closer look at the digital infrastructure, D4Science, that powers SoBigData RI, enabling seamless collaboration, secure data sharing, and large-scale computational research.
Regular Columns
Our recurring columns return with research highlights, actions to promote diversity and inclusion, collaborations with the private sector, TNA experiences, and the latest insights from SoBigLaws.
